Arches National Park — Moab, Utah

Located just five miles north of Moab, Arches National Park protects one of the most extraordinary desert landscapes in the world. The park contains more than 2,000 natural sandstone arches, the highest concentration found anywhere on Earth.

Over millions of years, wind, water, and shifting underground salt beds sculpted the red rock into towering fins, balanced rocks, massive arches, and dramatic desert canyons.

The park’s most famous landmark, Delicate Arch, has become an international symbol of Utah’s wild landscapes. Other highlights include the Windows Section, Balanced Rock, Park Avenue, and the dramatic Courthouse Towers.

Arches spans over 76,000 acres of protected high desert, where sweeping views, colorful rock formations, and wide-open skies create one of the most photogenic national parks in the United States.

We took the Arches National Park Sunset Tour and it was excellent. Our guide was knowledgeable and personable. This is a great way to see the highlights of the park in four hours. Highly recommended.

I thoroughly enjoyed my sunset tour of Arches National Park! I was trying to squeeze in visits to all of the mighty 5 NPs in Utah, and this was the perfect way to maximize time in Arches. I appreciated the hotel pickup option, and not having to worry about timed entry or passes. Everything was included in the tour. I regret that I delayed writing this review, and I have lost my notes with my tour guide’s name, but she was wonderful!(evening of 6/20/25, it was a female, possibly named Casey?) Our guide took us to several of the famous arches, and we had plenty of time to explore each area and take some pictures on our own. I like short walks, and this tour was a good mix of short walks and driving. We each had to option to explore/walk as much or as little as we wanted to at each stop. One lady in our group recently had surgery on her leg, so she chose not to climb the steps by Windows Arch for sunset, but the rest of our group got there early, found a spot, and enjoyed our view, thanks to Casey’s tips and recommendations. The tour van was spacious and comfortable. I believe there was 10 in my group, including the guide, so we had a few extra seats that made things more enjoyable. Our guide gave us each Moab water bottles filled with cold water, and she had additional water available for refills in the back of the van. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to see what the park has to offer but does not want to drive around on their own, worry about passes and timed reservations, and/or is not a serious hiker. This tour is perfect for solid travelers and families alike!

I only had one evening in Moab after my fantastic trip from Denver on the Rocky Mountaineer Train. I found a trip called "sunset at Arches National Park". I checked the reviews and they were good so I booked. I arrived in the afternoon after being totally pampered on the Rocky Mountaineer train. I am something of an amateur photographer, and was looking forward to photographing Arches in the changing light. Chris was our guide. Chris immediately made sure we understood what important an opportunity we have to preserve places on this earth for future generations to learn about and enjoy our world. His knowledge of history and geology is extensive and he shares it in a fun manner, so you learn and have fun while learning. I am happy to say I do have my picture that will be blown up, framed and placed in a prominent place on my wall of fond memories of my travels.
