What Our Adventurers Say

My husband and I did the night dinner cruise. It was awesome! The food was great and there were lots of choices. The cruise was fun and seeing the canyon walls being lit up was cool! If you go to Moab you should support this family owned business.Posted on Michael KolesarTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My wife and I did the sunset UTV tour with Richard as our guide and it was AMAZING! We were both surprised with how exhilarating it was. There were steep climbs/descents and some sandy flats to zoom through. Richard was super helpful and also showed a lot of trust on the route. Would absolutely recommend it!Posted on Theresa SueokaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This was a nice experience in Moab. We went on their last booking day of the season before they closed down for the winter months. The October weather was perfect and the scenery beautiful. The added bonus was the 3 piece folk music group that played lively music for the 1.5 hour river cruise. Afterward, we ate BBQ style dinner in the building next to the river. Fun activity for all ages.Posted on Tricia SmithTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great experience! Tasha was very funny and knowledgeable about the history, landscape etc. Captain Ron too! We didn't have a clear night but we did see some stars. Light show was cool, Jade and the driver did a great job. I loved how Jade raised her cowboy hat at the end of the light show, it was adorable! The cowboy buffet before was delicious and plentiful. We will definitely tell others!! Thanks!!
About Us
Your Journey, Led by Experience
Since 1963, we’ve been sharing Moab the way it was meant to be experienced, unhurried, knowledgeable, and rooted in respect for the land. As a locally owned, family-run company, we don’t just operate here… we belong here.
Our guides know these rivers, canyons, and night skies because they live them. Generations of experience shape every tour we offer, from quiet moments on the Colorado River to unforgettable evenings beneath the desert stars.
We believe the best journeys come from local knowledge, thoughtful guiding, and a deep connection to place, and that’s how we’ve done it for over sixty years.
- Six decades of guiding, one remarkable place.
- Local roots, generational experience.
- Knowledge earned on the river and in the canyons.

FAQ
From weather and timing to group travel and savings, here’s what to know before your Moab adventure begins.
What makes your tours different from others in Moab?
We’ve been guiding guests through Moab since 1963. Our tours are locally owned, thoughtfully paced, and led by experienced guides who know the rivers, canyons, and night skies because they live here, not because they read a script.
Are your tours suitable for families and first-time visitors?
Yes. Many of our tours are ideal for families, beginners, and first-time visitors to Moab. We focus on safety, comfort, and meaningful experiences, whether you’re on the Colorado River or exploring nearby parks.
Do your guides live locally?
Yes. Our guides are local professionals who know the area firsthand. Their knowledge comes from years—often decades—of experience on the river and in the surrounding desert landscapes.
What’s the best time of year to visit Moab?
Moab is a year-round destination. Spring and fall offer mild temperatures, summer highlights river adventures and evening tours, and winter brings quieter landscapes and striking desert light. We tailor our tours to match the season.
What types of tours do you offer?
We offer a variety of guided experiences, including river tours on the Colorado River, scenic land-based adventures, and air tours under the desert sky. Each tour is designed to highlight a different side of the region. Our most popular tour is the Sound and Light Show with Dinner.
Do you operate tours inside national and state parks?
Our tours visit different areas throughout the region, including locations in and around Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, and Dead Horse Point State Park. Each tour follows its own route and permitted areas.
Because access varies by tour, season, and permit, we encourage guests to verify specific locations listed on each tour page or contact our team at 435-259-5261 to confirm where your tour will go.
How far in advance should we book?
Booking timelines vary by tour, as each experience has a different group size and capacity. Some tours fill quickly due to limited seating, especially during spring and fall.
If you have one specific day you’re hoping to do a particular activity, we recommend booking as early as possible. If your schedule is more flexible and you have multiple days in Moab, our team can often help you find the best fit based on availability.
What types of groups do you serve?
We welcome a wide range of groups visiting Moab, and our tours are designed to be flexible enough to fit different travel styles and group needs. We regularly host:
Families & multi-generational groups looking for safe, memorable experiences
Solo travelers & couples seeking guided adventures without the stress of planning
Corporate retreats & team outings focused on connection and shared experiences
Commercial groups & tour operators requiring professionally guided, permitted tours
Weddings, family reunions & private celebrations looking to add something unforgettable to their time in Moab
Group size, tour routes, and locations vary by experience, so we encourage guests to contact our team to confirm which tours are best suited for your group and schedule.
Do you specialize in group and commercial tours?
Do you specialize in group and commercial tours?
Yes. We are highly experienced in hosting commercial and large group tours in Moab, regularly accommodating multiple motorcoach groups each week during peak seasons.
In addition to guided tours, we can assist with group lunches and dinners, event space coordination, hotel arrangements, and multi-day tour planning. Our team works closely with tour operators, planners, and group leaders to ensure logistics are handled smoothly from arrival to departure.
We also welcome:
Families & multi-generational groups
Solo travelers & couples
Corporate retreats & team outings
Weddings, family reunions & private celebrations
Because each tour and venue has different capacity limits and permitted operating areas, we recommend contacting our team directly to confirm availability and the best options for your group size and schedule.
What should we expect for weather in Moab?
Weather in Moab can vary by season—and even by time of day. Spring and fall are generally mild, summers are hot but ideal for river and evening tours, and winter brings cooler temperatures with fewer crowds and striking desert light.
Because conditions can change quickly in the desert, we recommend checking the forecast before your trip and reviewing the “What to Bring” section on each tour page and your confirmation. Our team is always happy to help you choose tours that best match the season and current conditions.
Desert conditions can change quickly, so our guides closely monitor the weather throughout the day. If a tour is interrupted by weather, we’ll take care of you based on the circumstances of that specific tour. This may include waiting briefly for conditions to improve, completing a partial tour, rescheduling for another day, or issuing a refund when appropriate.
As we like to say around here, if you don’t like the weather in Moab, wait five minutes.
Can we plan more than one tour in a day, and are there ways to save on multiple tours?
Yes. Many guests choose to enjoy more than one tour in a day, especially when combining a daytime adventure with an evening experience. Our team can help you plan a schedule that allows enough time to relax and fully enjoy each tour.
We also offer several ways to save when booking multiple experiences:
Book More, Save More — each chronological tour booked after your first receives 10% off (some exclusions apply)
Combo tours that bundle popular experiences at a reduced rate
Special discounts for AAA members, military personnel, and other eligible groups
If you’re planning multiple tours or a multi-day visit to Moab, we recommend contacting us directly so we can help you maximize your time and savings.
Some tours are not applied automatically online, so it’s best to call our friendly tour experts at 435-259-5261.
What is your cancellation policy?
Our standard cancellation policy for most tours is 48 hours prior to departure. If you cancel more than 48 hours in advance, your payment will be refunded minus a $25 booking fee. Cancellations made within 48 hours of departure are non-refundable.
For added flexibility, we offer a Trip Cancellation Protection Plan. With this plan, tickets may be rescheduled, converted to a gift card, or refunded up to 12 hours prior to departure. A written cancellation request must be submitted to info@canyonlandsbynight.com no later than 12 hours before your tour. All funds, minus the 10% protection plan cost and any processing fees, are transferable or refundable.
Please note:
Group bookings require cancellation 30 days in advance
Westwater Canyon rafting trips have a 7-day cancellation policy
Because policies vary by tour and group type, we encourage guests to review the specific cancellation details listed on each tour page or contact our team with questions before booking.
